Abstract

Civilizations and disasters have always coexisted. Development programs and technological advancement led to the construction of several permanent assets and infrastructure. Owing to the reason, the current research is an effort to find the disaster at natural and man-made levels in Pakistan and the efforts made to eradicate it. The different disaster management concepts are explained in this paper. Disaster, Hazard, Vulnerability, Capacity, Risk, and Disaster Management Cycle are some of the ideas that are briefly explained to analyze the risk and disaster management efforts. The study aims to clarify several kinds of disasters in addition to terminology. It also provides specifics on the several disasters that have happened in Pakistan previously both at big and small magnitude, along with techniques for mitigation and management. The national policies for disaster management as well as national plans for disaster management in Pakistan are also included in this study.
