Relying on existent theories of rhetoric and metaphor, the paper identifies three main categories of ads based on the usage of visual metaphors. Further, by analyzing several cases of sample advertisements, the authors explore the role of visual metaphors in simplifying complicated concepts and increasing audience interest. Additionally, the researcher demonstrated that visual metaphors reinforce the verbal message, provoke the necessary emotions, and enhance the cognitive and emotional aspect of the message. Thus, this study provides an overview of the significant role of visual metaphors in advertising communication. Visual metaphors combined with verbal messages can produce stronger visual impressions to strike out emotionally and establish a deeper connection with the viewer. This paper offers valuable insights into the powerful role that advertisements play nowadays through improvements made possible by images.
Raina Tabassum Copyright (c) 2024 Competitive Social Science Research Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://cssrjournal.com/index.php/cssrjournal/article/view/455 Sat, 30 Mar 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Exploring Racist Language used by University Students in their Peer Communication https://cssrjournal.com/index.php/cssrjournal/article/view/456
The current research is basically an attempt to investigate the racist language used in communication of university students in University of Okara. The purpose of the study is to inquire to what extent the illocutionary speech act realization is different in both Makki and Madni Surahs of the Holy Quran. For the purpose of conducting the present research, two Surahs of the Holy Quran, one from Makki Surahs An Nahal and one from Madni Surahs Tawbah were chosen and a corpus of their translation was developed. Searle’s(Searle & Searle, 1969) speech act theory was used as theoretical model which categorizes speech acts into five categories namely assertive, expressive, directives, declaratives and commissive. A list of all possible verbs was compiled which come into the speech acts categories. The results at lexical level show that assertive speech acts are the most frequently used speech acts in both Surahs. There are some variations based on directive speech acts as the language of Makki Surah is less directive then Madni. The findings of the study can further help investigate a larger set of data from religious texts.
Zeenat Rubab, Rimsha Parveen Copyright (c) 2024 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://cssrjournal.com/index.php/cssrjournal/article/view/457 Sat, 30 Mar 2024 00:00:00 +0000 What do students and teachers think about providing incentives presented by school leadership? https://cssrjournal.com/index.php/cssrjournal/article/view/458
The work of a teacher is aristocratic. The daily task of the teacher is improving the quality education and to polish students to be a model student, competent, smart, noble, and active. It’s not easy for teachers to make their students a better version of themselves; it requires a lot of effort and potential. The monthly income of a teacher is not so large that’s why he/she will need additional money to fulfill his/her needs and make his life prosperous. Incentives are the additional money that will be given to the teachers based on their performance as a reward. Not all teachers have the same incentives, everyone gets their reward according to their performance. A managerial system is needed in setting the number of rewards that will be given to the teachers so that the receipt of incentives will be more unbiased by applying this method.
Abheer Gull Khan Copyright (c) 2024 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://cssrjournal.com/index.php/cssrjournal/article/view/458 Sat, 30 Mar 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Transitivity analysis of Noor Jehan's character in the book "I should have honor" https://cssrjournal.com/index.php/cssrjournal/article/view/459
This research aims to describe Process Types, Participant Functions, and Circumstantial Elements through Transitivity Analysis of an English textbook which name “I should have honor".
